[AKA: Abel Bogguess] who was a slave of Richard Boggess on Jones Run in Harrison County from his birth in 1827 until his escape four months after Richard Boggess’ death in 1843.  Richard Boggess was the uncle of Lydia Jane Boggess who married James Allison Griffin, son of Martha (Patty) HARBERT-GRIFFIN.  This gives us a glimpse into the past and reveals what life was like back in that era... especially with respect to the issue of slavery...
