The HARBERT Family of Harrison County, West Virginia

The HARBERT Family of Harrison Couunty, West Virginia held an annual family reunion for many years on Jones’ Run near the site of the Harbert Blockhouse/Fort where their ancestor - Thomas Harbert - lost his life defending the lives of his family and of those of the pioneering settlers who also took refuge there that fateful day - March 3, 1778.  The photo which I’ve used as a header for each of the pages on this website are from a photo taken on September 3, 1916 at one such gathering... 138 years after Thomas’ death.  With the help of several individuals, I’ve been able to identify thus far 98 of the 439 individuals in the photo.
I would like to thank Max W. Harbert of Lumberport, WV for his particular assistance in this endeavor.  It is my understanding that he left a copy of the  old photo at the community center on Jones’ Run for about a 15 year period - along with a notebook and pen - and requested people of the community identify anyone they knew.  Without his efforts, much of this work would have not been possible.  The following 9 composite photos are presented here and dedicated to him in honor of his hard work and dedication to this project.

This is a work in progress...  if you can help identify any other individuals, please let me know.
